Energy Star is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.

The Energy Star label recognizes energy efficient products and promotes the environmental and economic benefits that these products offer. Energy efficient products can save families almost a third on their energy bills, without sacrificing style or comfort. Every Energy Star qualified window and door is independently tested and certified to perform at levels that design meet or exceed.

BBB Accreditation is an honor – and not every company is eligible. HomeRite has met the high standards and is an accredited member of BBB. Businesses meeting BBB standards are presented to local Boards of Directors (or designees) for review and acceptance as a BBB Accredited Business.

HomeRite commits to live up to the BBB Principles for Trust — a comprehensive set of policies, procedures and best practices focused on how businesses should treat the public — fairly and honestly in all circumstances.

To protect adults and children against the harmful lead dust and chips generated because of Common renovation activities like sanding, cutting, and demolition of lead-based paint, EPA issued a rule requiring the use of lead-safe practices and other actions aimed at preventing lead poisoning. Under the rule, beginning April 22, 2010, contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.

U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a 501 c3 non-profit organization committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for our nation through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings. USGBC is the driving force of an industry that is projected to contribute $554 billion to the U.S. gross domestic product from 2009-2013.

Buildings in the United States are responsible for 39% of CO2 emissions, 40% of energy consumption, 13% water consumption and 15% of GDP per year, making green building a source of significant economic and environmental opportunity. Greater building efficiency can meet 85% of future U.S. demand for energy, and a national commitment to green building has the potential to generate 2.5 million American jobs.

The heritage of the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA) isn't merely striving for affordable housing so every one has the opportunity for home ownership. NEFBA's tradition is deeply etched in the community where members work and live.

NEFBA launched the Builders Care program, reaching out into the community to repair severely damaged houses belonging to our area's elderly and disadvantaged - Rebuilding the American Dream. Builders Care is funded in part by the Duval County Housing Finance Authority.

Overall, NEFBA strives to represent members though numerous groups, training, and effective representation on the issues that affect the construction industry in Northeast Florida.
